The team of Wilson International, a leading global commodity trading house company and a part of AM International, kicked off the Lunar New with lively celebrations at the company headquarters in Singapore.
This highlight of the celebrations was an office lunch, which saw participation by all the team members. They were joined by senior leaders including Ms. Alagu Ashwin Muthiah, Director, Wilson International Trading and AM International and Mr. Manish Nagpal, CEO-Fertilizers, AM International & Director, Wilson International Trading. The festive meal allowed everyone to experience the rich traditions and symbolism of the holiday.
About the Lunar New Year
Many Asian countries mark the arrival of the new year around this time. Among them, Lunar New Year—also known as the Spring Festival or Chinese New Year—is the most significant celebration in China and several other Asian communities.
This 15-day festival begins with the new moon and concludes with the following full moon. Traditionally, it was a time for feasting and paying homage to household and celestial deities, as well as honoring ancestors.
In the lead-up to Lunar New Year, homes are meticulously cleaned to sweep away any lingering bad luck from the past year. It is also customary to settle outstanding debts before the new year, symbolizing a fresh financial start. Other preparations include adorning doors and windows with Spring Festival couplets and purchasing new clothes to welcome the year ahead.
We kicked off the Lunar New Year with a vibrant office lunch, celebrating the traditions, culture, and camaraderie that make Wilson International Trading special.
The meal featured authentic dishes – each carrying a special meaning—dumplings symbolising wealth, longevity noodles representing good health and success, and spring rolls signifying prosperity. The team also shared traditional platters reflecting the spirit of unity and abundance.
